Onto more serious matters. Miss Bevan, Mr.King and Mr.Smith were welcomed to the staff and Mr.Llewellyn Heycock had been appointed as a governor. Some ex-pupils had achieved success, with Gladys James being named best nurse of the year at St George's Hospital London and the Rev.Noel Thomas, (lately Curate at Barry) being appointed to the Seaman's mission at Santos, Brazil. The Rev.Lyn Harries and Mr.Bert Neyland were on visits to Aberavon, having made their homes in East Africa and Singapore respectively. Wilson Mayne had just returned to India. David Morgan had been awarded a Glamorgan County Commercial Scholarship and John Hoskin had secured his F.L.A. Messers. G.Dummer, T.Howell and J.K.Morgan had recently married.
