Orchin - One Name Study
Introduction
ORCHIN is an unusual surname worldwide. In the British Isles it emerged as a phonetic spelling variation of the surname Alchin.
I am undertaking a study of the Orchin name worldwide and I would be interested in hearing from anyone with Orchin connections or interests anywhere in the world. I am also interested in evidence of links between the Orchin surname and the ALCHIN surname and any of its variants (e.g. ALLCHIN).
My Orchin family lived in Middlesex, Surrey and Kent and they are descended from Henry Orchin, a coachman. Henry could be the ancestor of all the 'British' Orchins worldwide, but there are many unlinked branches. I am now researching the Orchin surname and variants with the aim of finding out if all the Orchin family groups are related.
